Understanding Your Risk as a Nonprofit Director or Officer
Are you a director or an officer of a nonprofit organization, or do you sell insurance to those individuals? Mismanaging a nonprofit organization is detrimental not only to the organization and the people it serves but also the directors and officers who operate it. Join us for a 30-minute session with guest speakers from Cruser Mitchell law firm, Partner Kevin Lussier, and Associate Katy Bekken, who will highlight the types of nonprofit directors and officers and employment practices liability exposures they frequently see. Attendees will learn how they might be impacted by these exposures and best practices for mitigating risk. Kevin and Katy will also review real-life claim examples and will share their knowledge on topics like bylaw enforcement, misappropriation of funds and personal grievances.
Guest Speaker – Kevin Lussier

Kevin Lussier was admitted to the California bar in 1989. Kevin, a civil litigator, has extensive experience in real property disputes, including landlord/tenant and homeowners association litigation. Prior to Kevin joining Cruser Mitchell in 2022, he gained valuable experience at a large international firm and was a partner at a prominent Los Angeles litigation firm.

Guest Speaker – Katy Bekken

Katy Bekken received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in political science from Loyola Marymount University and her Juris Doctorate from Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles. She is currently an associate at Cruser Mitchell who represents insurers and insureds in all phases of civil litigation, including premises liability, automobile liability, professional liability and employment practices matters.
